Classification Of Textile Fabrics

Feb 24, 2021

1. According to different processing methods

(1) Woven fabric: a fabric composed of yarns arranged vertically, i.e. transversely and longitudinally, interwoven on a loom according to certain rules. There are denim, brocade, linen, etc.

(2) Knitted fabric: a fabric formed by knitting yarn into loops. It is divided into weft knitting and warp knitting.

a. The weft knitted fabric is made by feeding the weft yarn into the working needle of the knitting machine from the weft direction to make the yarn bend into a loop in sequence and pass through each other.

b. The warp knitted fabric is made of one or several groups of parallel arranged yarns which are fed into all the working needles of the knitting machine in warp direction and looped at the same time.

(3) Nonwovens: made by bonding or stitching loose fibers. At present, there are mainly two methods: adhesion and puncture. This processing method can greatly simplify the process, reduce the cost and improve the labor productivity. It has a broad development prospect.

2. Classification according to the yarn materials that make up the fabric

(1) Pure Textile: the raw materials of the fabric are the same fiber, including cotton fabric, wool fabric, silk fabric, polyester fabric, etc.

(2) Blended fabric: the fabric is made of two or more different kinds of fibers blended into yarn, including polyester viscose, polyester nitrile, polyester cotton and other blended fabrics.

(3) Blended fabric: the fabric is made of single yarn of two kinds of fibers, which are blended into plies. There are low elastic polyester filament and medium long blended yarn, and there are polyester staple and low elastic polyester filament blended into plies.

(4) Interweaved fabric: the raw materials for the two directions of the fabric are different fibers and yarns, such as silk and rayon interweaved antique satin, nylon and rayon interweaved Nivea, etc.

3. Classification according to whether the fabric materials are dyed or not

(1) Blank fabric: raw material without bleaching and dyeing is processed into fabric, which is also called raw fabric in silk weaving.

(2) Yarn dyed fabric: the raw materials or fancy yarn after bleaching and dyeing are processed into fabric. Silk fabric is also called familiar fabric.

4. Classification of novel fabrics

(1) Adhesive cloth: it is made of two pieces of cloth back to back. Bonded fabrics include organic fabrics, knitted fabrics, nonwovens, vinyl plastic films, etc. they can also be combined in different ways.

(2) Flocking processing cloth: the cloth is covered with short and dense fiber fluff, with velvet style, which can be used as clothing material and decoration material.

(3) foam plastic laminated fabric: it adheres to the woven fabric or knitted fabric on the bottom cloth, mostly used as cold proof clothing.

(4) Coated fabric: it is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), chloroprene rubber, etc. on the base cloth of woven fabric or knitted fabric, which has superior waterproof function.
